Growing up, I was a night owl. I loved to stay up late chatting online with friends while studying my HTML books (nerd, yo!). But, after I married, I quickly realized that there were two 5 O’clock setting on my watch in one day. My night owl tendencies were quickly replaced with an early morning routine.
I love learning new and insightful information that helps me to energize in the morning, so that I can live a more purposeful and structured lifestyle. Here are a few energizing habits that I have learned to add to my daily routine:
1) Take Time To Stretch and Relax in the Morning: Before you jump the gun to your day, take a few minutes just to relax and stretch. Clear your mind, plan your day and enjoy quiet time. This is also when I put together a “to do” list, read my Bible, pray and cover my goals for the day. It’s a simple, easy way to get off to a great start. I always feel more focused when I take the time out to do this.
2) Open The Windows and Light A Candle: Letting in light to your workspace and home allows for a more cheery atmosphere. It’s also refreshing to see light pouring through your windows. I enjoy lighting a candle in the morning, as it seems to encourage a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere as well.
3) Have A Simple, Healthy, Breakfast: Even if it’s just a piece of toast, it helps fuel your body for the activities that are ahead. On days I really don’t feel like eating a meal, I opt for protein shakes or fruit smoothies. They are easy, nutritious and tasty.
4) Treat Yourself To A Morning Comfort Drink: When I first sit down to work, I love to have a comfort drink on hand. Sometimes its iced coffee, a cup of tea or simply an iced cold glass of lemon water. Choose a comfort drink for yourself to enjoy.
