Regardless of what people may think, a dream vacation doesn’t have to cost you your life savings. Instead, you can learn 7 simple strategies to save on your next trip:
1) Plan Ahead: The farther out in advance that you can plan a vacation, the better. Why? Because you will be more likely to find incredible deals. Last year we planned our vacation three months in advance, which reduced our airline tickets to a 50% savings.
2) Pack Lightly: One of the biggest ways to spend money without realizing it, is through your luggage. How? Because most airlines these days charge for each additional check in. Avoid it by packing lightly, so you don’t have to spend $$$ getting your luggage to your destination.
3) Bring Snacks: Airport and Resort snacks will rob your wallet blind if you let them. Instead, pack your own snacks for the waiting periods. Things like fruit roll ups, granola bars and chewing gum should be no problem.
4) Just Ask: Did you know that the easiest way to get cheaper hotel rooms and airline tickets is just by asking? Why? Because in most situations a manager has the privilege of giving you a small discount. Granted, it may be for only 10% off…but hey, that’s money back in your pocket.
5) Bring Coupons: If you are traveling to metro areas, don’t be afraid to scout out restaurants ahead of time. Why? Because you can find coupons and discounts codes to use towards your meals. Even if you only find one or two coupons that work, that’s still enough money saved to buy coffee.
6) Find Free: When it comes to entertainment and attractions, be flexible. Don’t plan every single day around expensive tourist traps. Instead, look for free admissions to museums and fun parks.
7) Check Online: Before you book anything from hotel rooms to rental cars, always check for better prices online. Thanks to price check web sites, you’ll be able to price check multiple companies to find the lowest offer.
