
Saving money is my favorite thing to learn about. Each penny saved, is a penny earned in my book. And being a good steward of my money is a passion. Here are 99 ways to save money around your home today!
Feel free to chime in with your own money saving tips. And no…all these tips won’t work for each individual lifestyle, but the goal is to challenge you to save your hard earned money for something more worthwhile like living debt free and having financial freedom.
- Cancel useless subscriptions (magazines, cable).
- Turn your water heater down.
- Wash your clothes in cold water as much as you can.
- Make your own laundry detergent.
- Reuse zip lock bags; just wash in soap and air dry!
- Use a crock pot to make most of your meals.
- Use leftovers for lunches instead of buying expensive fast food or “pre-made” lunches.
- Make your own teeth whitening mouth wash.
- Use coupons when available.
- Set a budget for your weekly spending.
- Try to use cash only or cash back credit cards for your purchases.
- Only use ATM’s that are attached to your bank to avoid fee’s.
- During the day, use natural lighting.
- Unplug appliances when not in use.

- Use free calendars online rather than buying printed ones.
- Use free e-mail options, instead of paying for a local service.

- Make sure your tires are always balanced to save on gas.
- Keep your cars tuned up to avoid major problems later one.
- Learn to change the oil yourself.

- Buy in bulk when cheaper.
- Freeze cheese in bulk when it goes on sale.
- Draw names at Christmas get together to save money, instead of having to buy for the whole bunch.
- Kids don’t know the difference between name brands when it comes to clothing. If your friend’s ask about it, they aren’t friends.
- Make muffins at the beginning each week and pop in the freezer. They make cheap and convenient breakfast items.
- Sign up to your favorite stores to receive coupons and mail out discount codes.
- Make milk last longer: take 1/2 gallon whole milk, add 1/2 gallon water and chill. Taste exactly the same.
- Buy pet foods in bulk and store in an air tight container.
- Try to bulk process your photos, it usually saves on the overall cost.
- Make cookies and other desserts from scratch. You will save over 75% of the bakery cost.
- Keep a spending log to detail your journey. You will find more ways to cut back.
