A common misconception with saving money, is that when you live with less, you will enjoy things less. When in reality the opposite is true. When you live on less, you learn to enjoy more. You have more money to do important things in life like paying off your house, going on vacation, and more. What are a few simple ways you can live on less?
- Consider trading in your car for a more economical vehicle. The end result could save you a lot of money on gas prices.
- Try to carpool to work a few days a week. By splitting gas costs you can cut your gas bill in half.
- Take your lunch to work every other day, it will cut your spending in half, and chances are it’s a lot cheaper.
- Learn to shop with a list in hand. Set a goal to spend less than a certain amount and only buy things you actually need.
- Avoid shopping when you are hungry, or depressed. Studies show you spend more on things you really don’t need.
- If you enjoy buying a particular brand, sign up for their e-mail updates. Usually they send out coupons on a regular basis.
- Cook more food at home, and opt for meat free meals a few times a week. Less meat can mean less money, and you can replace protein with things like beans, and other sources.
- Workout at community gym’s, and at home. You can cancel your gym membership to save money.
- Cancel cable, and take up a new hobby. Reading, writing, bird watching, games can take the place of late night tube sessions.
These are just more fun, and simple ways that you can save money on day to day costs. In turn, the money you will be able to save can be put towards more meaningful areas in your life.
